Have you ever been so familiar with crown molding? Well, in the world that is full of neat things, crown means king. Adding crown molding has several functions for your home. It is for lording chair rails, high over casings, and baseboards. It also cuts a remarkable profile with well-designed curves and great angels. In addition, it draws the eye up to the ceiling and it elevates the room’s stature, too.

History of Crown Molding

Talking about crown molding, it dates back to the Ancient Greek. They created the rule of proportion that is still used by humans in 2500 years later. But, the materials have changed. The materials that were used for adding crown molding in 18th century American craftsmen selection are relatively lighter weight plaster or wood crown, and more soft wood crown or plaster. It is of course different from the used to be materials which are heavy stones.

Though these materials are still popular and used by some traditional people, today’s handy homeowner can also select molding that is made of other materials. For example, they can have this molding made of foam and flexible polyurethane that goes up with greater ease than the Greeks. Crown Molding is much better because it has chisel, no nail and no trowel required.
