Installing water features in your garden can make a wonderful way to liven up the space. They can make a beautiful focal point and to enhance the existing feature in your yard, such as what water features for pools demonstrate. Proper maintenance is required to keep the water clean, ensuring the habitat you have created doesn’t fall apart. Here are some maintenance tips for you!

Maintenance Tips for Water Features

It’s best to install water features in an area that is not exposed to constant direct sunlight as it can increase the risk of unwanted plants, such as algae, from developing in the water and rapid evaporation. Consider planting around the edge of water feature to provide at least 50 percent shading for the feature.

Use distilled water rather than hose water, as the latter is subject to various chemicals which can create issues with moving parts, including pumps. Some chemicals contained by hose water can result in algae growth too. Lastly, it’s always recommended to clean the water feature quickly and daily. Check of your water features have debris ended up in there and remove leaves and twigs every day to prevent water from tainting and any moving parts from damage.
